Casablanca Car Rental for Cruise Ship Passengers at the Port
Casablanca car rental for cruise ship passengers at the port is available through Carrent Casablanca as a pre-arranged, self-drive rental confirmed by WhatsApp before your ship docks.
You send your ship name, berthing time and all-aboard time. We confirm the car, the total price and the meeting point in writing.
This guide covers how pickup works, what a one-day rental costs, which car to choose (including the Dacia Logan), and how to plan your day so you are back before the ship sails.
Can Cruise Passengers Rent a Car at Casablanca Cruise Port?
Yes, on request and with advance arrangement. Carrent Casablanca does not run a walk-up counter inside the cruise terminal. We coordinate a meet-and-greet near the port, and an agent hands over the car with a name sign.
Whether a meeting point works depends on your ship, berth and sailing time. That is why we confirm every cruise booking before you travel.
| Question | Short answer |
| Is there a rental desk inside the terminal? | No. Pickup is arranged in advance and confirmed by WhatsApp. |
| How do I book? | WhatsApp or call +212 663 707 707, or use the online booking page. |
| What do you need from me? | Ship name, date, berthing time, all-aboard time, passenger count, car type, return plan. |
| One-day starting prices | Economy from 150 MAD, Dacia Logan from 280 MAD, compact SUV from 350 MAD. |
| What is included? | Insurance, unlimited mileage and 24/7 support. |
| Deposit | A card hold, not a charge. From 3,000 MAD on economy cars; 8,000 MAD on the Dacia Logan. |
| Payment before pickup | None required. |
| Best for | Confident drivers with roughly six hours or more ashore. |
The one rule that matters: plan backwards from your all-aboard time, not forwards from your arrival time.
Where Your Ship Docks and Where the Car Meets You
Cruise ships dock inside the working Port of Casablanca. Your rental car meets you near the terminal exit or at another agreed point, not at the gangway.
The official port address is Gare maritime de Casablanca, jetée Moulay Youssef, 20000 Casablanca. The cruise terminal opened in September 2025 and is operated by Global Ports Holding as Casablanca Cruise Port.
Cruise Terminal or Train Station? Do Not Mix Them Up
Casa-Port Railway Station is a different building, a short drive from the cruise terminal. An agent waiting at the station cannot meet a ship passenger at the terminal.
Always tell us which arrival you mean. Our Casablanca port car rental explains the station side in detail.
Travelling by train as well? See car rental near Casablanca train station.

Why the Car Cannot Wait at the Gangway
A cruise berth sits inside a restricted commercial port. Private vehicles generally cannot drive up to the ship.
Passengers normally walk or use a port shuttle to reach the terminal and the exit. Check your ship’s port guide for how this works on your call.
So we never promise gangway delivery. We promise a confirmed meeting point, agreed in writing before you sail.
Your Journey From Ship to Steering Wheel

- You meet our agent at the confirmed point. The agent holds a name sign.
- You show your documents and do a short walkaround of the car.
- You drive off for your shore day.
- You return the car at the agreed point, with your buffer intact.

What a One-Day Cruise Rental Costs
Economy cars start from 150 MAD per day, the Dacia Logan from 280 MAD, compact SUVs from 350 MAD and luxury cars from 900 MAD. Insurance and unlimited mileage are included in these rates.
| Category | Example models | From, per day | Typical deposit |
| Economy | Dacia Sandero, Renault Clio, Hyundai Accent | 150 MAD | 3,000–5,000 MAD |
| Economy sedan | Dacia Logan | 280 MAD | 8,000 MAD |
| Compact SUV | Dacia Duster, Renault Arkana | 350 MAD | 6,000–8,000 MAD |
| Luxury | Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 Series, Audi Q8 | 900 MAD | 8,000–10,000 MAD |
Prices shift slightly with season and availability. Ask for an exact quote for your date on WhatsApp.
There is no separate port fee added afterwards. Still, always ask for the total in writing before you sail.

- 24/7 support in English, French and Arabic
- No booking commission
What Can Change Your Final Price

One-day hire only? Our daily car rental Casablanca page covers short rentals, and our unlimited mileage page explains the distance policy.
Check the Rental Period in Your Quote
Your day ashore may be ten hours, not twenty-four. Ask whether the quote covers a full day or a set collection and return window.
Confirm the exact collection time and return time in writing. This also protects you from late-return charges.
Deposit and Card Limits: A Cruise-Specific Check
The deposit is a hold on your card, not a charge. It is released after the return inspection if there is no new damage.
Release takes 1–7 days on economy and SUV cars, and up to 14 days on luxury cars. You will be back on the ship by then, so plan for it.
Before you sail:
- Check that your card has enough available limit for the hold.
- Tell your bank you are travelling in Morocco.
- Use a card in the main driver’s name.
Cash or debit deposits can sometimes replace a card hold. Ask when you book. Our no credit card rental page explains the options.
Insurance and Excess
Insurance is built into every rate. A full Collision Damage Waiver upgrade, which reduces your excess, is available on request.
For a short city day, basic cover is usually enough for confident drivers. Many visitors still add the upgrade for peace of mind.
Read insurance options for rental cars in Morocco before you decide.
Fuel, Mileage and Late Return
- Mileage: unlimited, with no daily cap.
- Fuel: return the car at the fuel level written on your contract. Your agent confirms this at handover.
- Late return: charged beyond the agreed time. For cruise passengers, lateness is also a ship risk.
If Your Cruise Plans Change
Ship delayed? Message us as soon as you know. There is no rebooking fee for a late arrival, as long as you keep us informed.
Port call changed or cancelled by the cruise line? Tell us immediately. We confirm the cancellation terms for your dates when you book.
We can adjust a meeting time. We cannot guarantee it once you arrive without notice.

Which Car to Rent for a Cruise Day
Most cruise passengers carry day bags, not suitcases, so choose by passenger count, comfort and parking, not boot size.
| Your group | Suggested car | Why |
| Solo or couple | Dacia Sandero or Renault Clio 5 | Easy parking, lowest price |
| 2–4 adults wanting space | Dacia Logan | Roomy rear seats, big boot |
| Family of 4–5 | Logan or Hyundai Tucson | Space and comfort |
| 5–7 travellers | 7-seater car rental | Everyone in one car |
| Need automatic | Ask early | Fewer automatics in the fleet |
| Comfort first | Luxury category | Premium ride for the day |
Not sure? Browse the full fleet or read our guide to the best cars for driving in Casablanca.
Dacia Logan for Cruise Passengers: Is It the Right Car?
The Dacia Logan is the best-value pick for most cruise groups of two to four adults. It seats five, has a 510-litre boot, and starts from 280 MAD per day.
The Logan is built in Morocco, so parts and servicing are easy to find at almost any garage. Our full Dacia Logan rental guide has every spec.
| Logan fact | Detail |
| Body and seats | 4-door sedan, 5 seats |
| Boot | 510 litres |
| Size | 435 cm long, 174 cm wide |
| Engines | 1.0L petrol (100 hp) or 1.5L diesel (95 hp) |
| Fuel use | 5.1 L/100 km petrol; 4.4 L/100 km diesel |
| Gearbox | Manual as standard; automatic (CVT) on request |
| Safety | 6 airbags, ABS, ESP, hill-start assist, rear parking sensors, Isofix points |
| Comfort | Manual air conditioning, 8-inch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto |
| Price | From 280 MAD per day (280–330 MAD) |
| Deposit | 8,000 MAD, refundable hold |
Real Dacia Logan Questions From Cruise Travellers
| Question | Answer |
| Can I rent a Logan for one day? | Yes. Daily, weekly and monthly rentals are all available. |
| Is the Logan automatic? | Manual is standard. Automatic depends on fleet and dates, so confirm it when you book. |
| Petrol or diesel? | Same daily rate. Either suits a city day. Tell us your preference. |
| Will it fit four adults? | Yes. It seats five, with a boot larger than a Sandero’s or Clio’s. |
| Is it easy to park? | Yes. It is a standard sedan, easier than an SUV in central streets. |
| Is it good for Rabat? | Yes, on the A1 motorway. Check the time warning in the itinerary section below. |
| What is the deposit? | A flat 8,000 MAD hold, released after return inspection. |
| Can I add a child seat? | The car has Isofix points. Ask us to confirm child-seat availability for your date. |
Logan vs Sandero, Clio and Duster
| Model | Type | Boot | Best for |
| Dacia Logan | Sedan | 510 L | Most groups of 2–4 adults |
| Dacia Sandero | Hatchback | Up to 410 L | Lowest price, tight parking |
| Renault Clio 5 | Hatchback | 391 L | Refined small-car ride |
| Dacia Duster | Compact SUV | 472 L | Higher seating, automatic option |
Choose the Logan for space and value. Choose the Sandero for the cheapest day. Choose the Duster if you prefer an SUV.
When to Choose an SUV, 7-Seater or Automatic
- SUV: for higher seating and a more comfortable ride. See our best SUV to rent in Casablanca for families.
- 7-seater: for groups of five to seven. Compare options on our 7-seater van rental for families page.
- Automatic: for drivers who avoid manual gearboxes. Say so at booking. Never assume it from the model name.
Plan Your Day Around Disembarkation and All-Aboard Time
Your real driving time is your port call minus disembarkation, handover, return and a safety buffer. Never treat the whole port call as sightseeing time.
All-aboard is the time you must be back on the ship. It is usually before the official sailing time. Check your ship’s daily programme for the exact hour.
Work Backwards From All-Aboard
Here is an example for a ship that docks at 08:00 with all-aboard at 17:00.
| Time | What happens |
| 08:00 | Ship docks. |
| 08:45–09:30 | You disembark, walk or take the shuttle, and meet our agent. Allow 45–90 minutes; it varies by ship. |
| 09:30 | Handover: documents, walkaround, deposit hold (about 15 minutes). |
| 09:45–15:15 | Your driving window: about five and a half hours. |
| 15:30 | Car returned at the agreed point, 90 minutes before all-aboard. |
| 15:30–16:30 | Return inspection, walk or shuttle back, port security. |
| 17:00 | All-aboard. |
This is our conservative planning guide, not a guarantee. Traffic, port queues and ship procedures change from day to day.
How Much Time Do You Need Ashore?
| Time ashore (docking to all-aboard) | Suggested plan |
| Under 5 hours | Taxi or tram. Self-drive is rarely worth the handover time. |
| 5–7 hours | Hassan II Mosque and the Corniche, plus one walking stop. |
| 7–9 hours | Mosque, Ain Diab, Habous or the Old Medina, and a relaxed lunch. |
| 9+ hours | Rabat is possible only if you leave early and protect your buffer. |
Allow for Traffic, Parking and Fuel
Central Casablanca is busiest on weekday mornings and early evenings. Give yourself extra time near the port at both ends of the day.
Parking near attractions can take ten minutes or more to find. Add that to every stop.
If your contract requires a set fuel level on return, refuel before you head back, not on the way.
What If Your Ship Arrives Late?
Send your updated berthing time on WhatsApp as soon as you know it. We adjust the meeting time where we can.
If you lose an hour at the start, cut a stop. Do not squeeze the return buffer.
Self-Drive Itineraries From Casablanca Cruise Port
Stay in Casablanca on a short port call. Choose two or three meaningful stops, not a long list.
Hassan II Mosque: The Main Stop
The official port website lists the mosque about 3 km from the port, roughly a 10-minute drive in normal traffic. It is the easiest big sight to reach by car.
Enjoy the exterior and the esplanade by the Atlantic. Interior visits are usually by guided tour at set times, so check the current schedule before you plan.
Allow time to park and walk. Treat the drive time as guidance, not a promise.
La Corniche and Ain Diab
The coastal road towards Ain Diab is the classic relaxed drive. It suits a coffee stop and sea views.
See our guide to the Ain Diab coastal drive from Casablanca for the route and stops.
Old Medina and Habous Quarter
Driving to these areas and exploring them are two different jobs. Park first, then walk.
The Old Medina streets are best on foot. The Habous Quarter works well for shopping and lunch. Do not expect to find a space in the busiest streets at midday.
Sample Six-Hour Self-Drive Plan
| Stop | Time | Why it fits |
| Hassan II Mosque | 75 min | Short drive from the port; major sight |
| Corniche and Ain Diab | 60 min | Easy coastal drive, café stop |
| Habous Quarter or Old Medina | 75–90 min | Walk, shop, lunch |
| Return to agreed point | 30 min | Keep your 90-minute buffer |
Should You Drive to Rabat?
Rabat is about 90 km from Casablanca and roughly 55 minutes each way on the A1 motorway. That is nearly two hours of driving before you see anything.
It only works on a long port call with an early start. Read our Casablanca to Rabat guide and the Rabat day trip by rental car page before deciding.
Why Marrakech Is Not Realistic
Marrakech is about 240 km away, roughly 2.5–3 hours each way. That is five to six hours of driving on a day when your ship will not wait.
Planning a longer Morocco trip after the cruise? See Casablanca to Marrakech by car and the one-way rental to Marrakech.
Returning the Car Before the Ship Sails
Agree the return point and return time in writing before you leave the port. Then work backwards from all-aboard.
Confirm the Return Point
Return options on our normal bookings include the agreed meeting point near the port, our Maarif office, or Mohammed V Airport at the end of a trip. For a cruise day, we confirm the exact return point when we confirm your booking.
If your cruise ends in Casablanca and you fly out, see our Casablanca airport car rental guide.
How Much Buffer Should You Leave?
Our suggested planning rule is 90 minutes before all-aboard. That covers traffic, fuel, inspection, paperwork and the walk or shuttle back to the ship.
This is not a guarantee. A short route in light traffic needs less. A long route needs more.
The ship will not wait for a late passenger. Treat the buffer as part of the plan, not as spare time.
Fuel, Final Inspection and Confirmation
- Return the car at the fuel level on your contract.
- Photograph all sides and the odometer again.
- Ask the agent to confirm the return in writing or by WhatsApp.
- Keep a record of the agreed return.
What If You Are Running Late?
Message us on WhatsApp straight away. We can tell you the fastest way to hand the car back.
Also keep the ship’s port agent number from your daily programme. Late-return charges apply, but missing the ship costs far more.
Documents and Driving Rules for Cruise Passengers
You need a valid driving licence, your original passport and a payment card in the main driver’s name. An International Driving Permit is only required for non-Latin-script licences.
| Document | Required? | Detail |
| Driving licence | Always | Valid, Latin script, held for 1+ year |
| Passport | Always for visitors | Original only; never hand it over as a deposit |
| Payment card | Almost always | In the main driver’s name |
| International Driving Permit | Non-Latin licences only | Not required for UK, US, EU, Canadian or Australian licences |
Some cruise lines hold passports on board in certain ports. Ask guest services before you disembark, because you need the original at handover.
Minimum Age
| Category | Minimum age | Young-driver surcharge |
| Economy | 21 | 100–200 MAD/day, ages 21–24 |
| SUV or automatic | 23 | 100–200 MAD/day, ages 21–24 |
| Luxury | 25 | Confirm at booking |
Rules by Licence Country
- UK licence: driving in Morocco with a UK licence
- US licence: renting a car in Morocco with a US licence
- French citizens: renting a car in Morocco as a French citizen
- Any other country: driving in Morocco with a foreign licence
For the full checklist, read documents needed to rent a car in Morocco.
Self-Drive, Taxi or Private Driver: Which Is Right for Your Port Day?
Self-drive suits confident drivers who want several stops. A taxi, tram or driver suits short visits and passengers who prefer not to drive.
We would rather you pick the right option than the wrong rental.
| Option | Best for | Watch out for |
| Self-drive rental | Flexible stops, small groups, drivers who know the rules | Traffic, parking, return deadline |
| Taxi or tram | One or two city sights, short port calls | Fare agreement, limited flexibility |
| Car with driver | First-time visitors, tight schedules, nervous drivers | Higher cost |
Quick Decision Rules
- Under five hours ashore: choose a taxi or driver.
- Never driven abroad, or dislike busy traffic: choose a driver.
- Several stops, a flexible pace and a calm driver: choose self-drive.
- Family with no wish to navigate: choose a driver.
Compare both honestly in our guide to car rental with driver vs self-drive in Casablanca. Our car vs taxi guide for Casablanca adds cost and time comparisons.
Driving in Casablanca on a Short Port Call
Drive calmly, keep your papers in the car and leave extra time. Casablanca traffic is busy but manageable for confident drivers.
- Traffic: weekday mornings and early evenings are heaviest.
- Parking: street parking is often watched by informal attendants who expect a small coin tip.
- Tolls: the A1 and A7 motorways use a closed toll system. Take a ticket on entry and pay in cash on exit. Keep small dirham notes.
- Checkpoints: carry your contract, insurance proof, passport and licence.
- Navigation: download an offline map before you leave the ship.

Eight Mistakes Cruise Passengers Make
- Expecting gangway pickup. Meet at the agreed exit point.
- Counting the whole port call as driving time. Subtract disembarkation, handover and your buffer.
- Not sending the all-aboard time. We need it to plan with you.
- Confusing the terminal with Casa-Port station. They are different places.
- Forgetting the card limit. The deposit hold needs available credit.
- Skipping photos. Photograph the car at handover and return.
- Planning Marrakech. It is too far for a port call.
- Leaving the return point vague. Confirm it in writing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can cruise passengers rent a car at Casablanca port?
Yes, on request. Carrent Casablanca arranges pickup near the port and confirms the exact meeting point by WhatsApp before you travel. Feasibility depends on your ship, berth and sailing time.
Is there a car rental counter inside the cruise terminal?
No. We do not run a walk-up counter inside the terminal. Pickup is pre-arranged, and an agent meets you with a name sign at the agreed point.
Is the Dacia Logan good for a cruise day?
Yes, for most groups of two to four adults. It has five seats, a 510-litre boot, parking-friendly size and a price from 280 MAD per day.
Can I drive to Rabat during a cruise stop?
Only on a long port call with an early start. It is about 55 minutes each way. Always protect your return buffer.
Is Marrakech realistic from the cruise port?
No. It is 2.5–3 hours each way, which leaves too little margin before all-aboard.
What happens if my ship arrives late?
Send the new berthing time on WhatsApp immediately. We adjust the meeting time where we can. There is no rebooking fee for a late arrival.
Is renting a car better than taking a taxi?
It depends. Rent a car for several stops and a flexible pace. Take a taxi, tram or driver for short visits or if you dislike driving.
